A Centre for study in Honours and General Courses at the Undergraduate level.
It has completed fifty five years of its glorious existence. The college was founded on 21st July 1960 as an affiliated college of Calcutta University with Science and Arts facilities. In 1985 the college was affiliated to Vidyasagar University.
Honours Course offered in 12 subjects: Bengali, English, History, Political Science, Sanskrit, Education, Anthropology, Zoology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Geography.
General Courses in 15 subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Nutrition, Zoology, Mathematics, English, Bengali, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sanskrit, Geography, Anthropology, Education and Nutrition.
Area of college campus: 9.85 acre

Library: Remains open from 10 A.M. To 5 P.M. More than 16000 books and reading room and home lending facilities have been provided. Reading room is currently furnished with air conditioned facilities.
Academic Activities: Routine class work, Class Tests, Seminars, Group Discussions, Periodical Tests and Internal Assessments held regularly. Academic excursions and Field works in different subjects as per University Curriculum.
Extra Curricular Activities: Cultural Competitions, Participation of students in Essay, Quiz competions, Outdoor games like Football, Volleyball, Cricket and Badminton in College playgrounds and Indoor Games like Carom, Table Tennis and Chess etc. held in the College Common Rooms. Moreover, Wall Magazines and regularly published.
Results: High success rate in the University Examination, very often secures first, second or third position in different subjects, result oriented teaching-learning procedure is strictly followed.
N.S.S: Three NSS Units are there in the college. The college has close contact with the common people through the NSS teams.
Student’s Support: A Students’ Union with a furnished union room actively supports the students in their needs and necessities.
Medical Unit, Alumni Association, Grievance Redress Cell and Career Counseling Cell actively work in the college.
Admission: Admission is made strictly on merit basis. Wholly Online Admission system is followed. Advertisement is given in National and Local Newspaper.
