Environmental and Accessibility Initiatives at Our College

Alternative Sources of Energy and Energy Conservation

Our college is committed to reducing power consumption and adopting sustainable energy practices. We have installed solar panels and photovoltaic cells with a combined generation capacity of 10 KW. Additionally, we utilize a DG SET with a capacity of 20 KVA and three motors with a total load capacity of 3 KW. To further minimize energy use, we have replaced conventional lighting with LED and CFL bulbs and are in the process of installing solar wall lights.

Water Conservation

The college campus features two water bodies—a tank and a pond—where we collect and store rainwater through a well-planned drainage system. While we do not have a water recycling mechanism, we have implemented measures to minimize water wastage and ensure the efficient use of water resources.

Green Campus Initiatives

We strive to maintain a green and aesthetically pleasing campus. The college is home to three well-maintained gardens, and we conduct regular tree plantations and seasonal plantings. To promote ecological balance, we use minimal fertilizers and pesticides, opting instead for moderate amounts of bio-fertilizers.

Waste Management

We actively manage both degradable and non-degradable waste through a systematic process. Waste is collected and sorted into categories, with degradable waste being recycled and non-degradable waste sent to appropriate disposal sites. This approach ensures that waste does not directly enter the environment. Our college continually works to reduce the generation of harmful waste and enhance waste management practices.

Accessibility and Barrier-Free Environment

Our college is working towards creating a more accessible and barrier-free environment. Currently, we have two ramps facilitating access to classrooms and one ramp for office access. We have also installed signage, including tactile paths, lights, display boards, and signposts. However, we acknowledge the need for additional facilities, such as lifts, disabled-friendly washrooms, and assistive technology, to better support persons with disabilities. These initiatives reflect our commitment to environmental sustainability and inclusivity, and we continue to seek improvements in these areas to enhance the college experience for all members of our community.
