About The Department
The Department of Nutrition has been started in our college since 2015 as Nutrition General Course. The current major thrust teaching area of the department includes Human Nutrition, Nutritional biochemistry, Nutritional physiology, Food Microbiology, sport nutrition, entrepreneurship development, Patient counselling, fermented foods etc. It is well known that Nutrition, as an academic discipline, is very much important branch of Biological science as well as a diminutive part of Medical science also to lead the community into a better life style. So, being a large number of higher educated nutrition students can take responsibility to increase knowledge about proper nutrition from the existing recourses of our country and they would be a fighter against malnutrition and nutrition related diseases. At present the Department of Nutrition has nearly 45 General students with 03 faculty members.

Objectives
The larger objective is the creation of nutrition awareness through community outreach to promote a healthy lifestyle among the population so that they can lead a healthy and wealthy life.
Future Plan
- To introduce M.Sc in nutrition
- To collaborate with hospital for internship programme.
- To collaborate with food industry for students engagement
Departmental Rules
- Students have to abide by the rules and regulations imposed by the college.
- Students have to abide by the departmental rules and regulations.
- As per NEP 2020, and CBCS rules 20% marks (10 out of 50) will be internal, which is based on the class attendance (04) and internal evaluation cum classroom performance (06). So students are advised to follow the instructions provided by the HOD from time to time.
- Internal scores for the attendance part shall be awarded in the following manner:
- ≥ 90% to 100% - 4 marks
- ≥ 80% to 90% - 3 marks
- > 75% to <80% - 2 marks
- Exact 75% -1 marks, (<75% - 0 marks.
- As per NEP 2020 rules imposed by UGB, students with attendance less than 75% are not eligible to appear in the final examination.
- Participation in field work for SEM-VI Honours and SEM-V General (CBCS) courses is mandatory for all.
- It is mandatory for all students under NEP 2020 to participate in the ‘Term Paper/ Project’ preparation.
- Students have to participate in departmental activities like- Eco-Club programmes, special lectures, workshops, model exhibitions, seminars and other cultural and academic activities of the department.
- Appearing in Class Tests/Internal Assessment is mandatory.
- Students have to inform HoD or other teachers in case of continuous absence from the class for more than three consecutive days.
- Students have to issue and submit instruments and lab materials within due time without any physical damage or missing components. They must enter their name in the register at the time of issuance of instruments.
- Students are instructed to switch off lights and fans before leaving the classroom.
Highlight of The Departments
Department regularly organizes special lectures, alumni lectures, student seminars, fresher’s and farewells and publishes magazines for all round development of students.
