Research Activity
Sitananda College actively promotes research and innovation among its faculty and students. The institution encourages faculty to undertake quality research projects, publish in reputable journals, and present findings at seminars and conferences. To support this, seed money is provided for research on social and environmental issues.
A dedicated Research Centre in Natural Science, approved by Vidyasagar University, fosters knowledge creation and transfer. The college nurtures an innovation ecosystem through entrepreneurship programs and motivational sessions, having conducted 60 workshops, seminars, and conferences on topics like Research Methodology, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), and entrepreneurship over the past five years. Faculty research has resulted in 136 publications in national and international journals and 41 books/book chapters.
Extension activities are integral to the college’s mission, aimed at raising awareness of community issues,
gender disparities, and social inequity. The NSS units and various departments conduct outreach programs
addressing social, environmental, and health issues, instilling social values and responsibilities among
stakeholders. These efforts earned the college State NSS Awards from the Department of Higher Education,
Government of West Bengal, for the 2019-2020 year in categories including College, Programme Officer, and
Volunteer.
