About The Department

Year of Establishment: B.A (Gen.-1960, Hons-2008)
Sitananda College is one of the oldest and reputed College of Purba Medinipur District. It is situated at Nandigram. On the 21st July, 1960 the college was accorded affiliation from the University of Calcutta. Later it came under the umbrella of Vidyasagar University from 1985. The college started functioning initially with two streams – Arts and Science. Honours courses were introduced in different subjects in different years. At the beginning the college got affiliation in General course in History and History Honours in 1996. Since then, the Department has been trying to enhance its excellence.
